A state of reflection
In an effort to ensure the execution of its impact goals, the Board has begun the process of restructuring and exploring new operating models for UML
Today, the UML Board of Directors announces that Urban Movement Labs (UML) will undergo a period of restructuring. Launched in Fall 2019, UML is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between local government and innovators to make Los Angeles the transportation innovation capital of the world. This public-private partnership is where new transportation technologies are tested, proven, and brought to life, with and for L.A.’s diverse communities. In just three years, UML led projects and programs across several disruptive and impactful platforms including mobility data, safety technologies, zero-emissions delivery, advanced air mobility, and accessible and affordable transportation services.
Since its launch, the organization has adapted to global economic changes and new city priorities while growing a portfolio of programs, partners, and pilot projects across modes of transportation. The Board recently concluded its annual strategic planning review and acknowledged that the organization is in need of recalibration to continue to operate sustainably and successfully meet its mission. In an effort to ensure the execution of its impact goals, the Board has begun the process of restructuring and exploring new operating models for UML. This process will continue for the next several months during which current operations will be limited.
UML seeks to relaunch very soon and take this rapidly growing organization to the next level by working with its dedicated partners to accelerate equitable, sustainable, and community-first mobility solutions across the country.
